Portland – No, Not That One

To recap, here’s a list of my stops from mid-July to mid-September 2021.

  1. SoCal and Idaho trip
  2. Las Vegas
  3. Charleston
  4. Finger Lakes, New York
  5. Portland, Maine
  6. Boston, Mass.
  7. Cape Cod & Returning home to my vineyard!

In this current installment updating you on my summer trip to the U.S., I flew from Rochester, New York to Portland, Maine. Uneventful flights, in part, thanks to the lack of travel due to COVID restrictions.

It was a double whammy of visiting friends that live in Portland, Maine as well as having a mutual friend visit us from Pittsburgh, PA. Myself and the guys all used to work together at a medical technology company out in Southern California. The guys left quite a few years back but we have traveled together since than and still kept in touch. The guys, being beer enthusiasts, make me one during the time I spent with them. We tried a couple of breweries and pizzas to go along with. Also in the mix was my friend’s wife, whom I think I can also now call my friend.

The Portlanders, and their cats, graciously let us share their abode, which is in Cape Elizabeth, just outside of Portland proper. While our Pittsburgh friend was in town, we pretty much ate and drank our way through our time together. Oh, and we caught up on what each one of us was up to. I also got to do a few very New England things like have lobster rolls and spend a night in a cabin by a lake. All prepping me for a very New England time which I will talk about in the next chapter – a few days on Cape Cod! See ya latah!

I've been traveling for over 35 years. Culture, food, photography and art motivate my travels. Where to next?
